The Distant, The Beautiful is a collection of sixteen pulsing, twilit, silent songs without words. It might make you think of the sea, cold-weather starlight, empty cities and early-morning contrails. Perhaps that gives it something in common with the so-called ambient music, but it really is more than that: meandering, but with direction; repetitive, but with intelligence; electronic, but free from the soulless twitterings and whinings of computers.

The Distant, The Beautiful is as elusive and haunting as one of those women who whispers to you from the other side of an empty, dark concert hall then disappears into the shadows before you can quite see her face.
